Classy mare Illuminates added another stakes win to her record when she steamed home to win the listed Angst Handicap (1400m) at Randwick on Saturday.
The five-year-old mare by Strategic, an $86,000 yearling purchase for trainer Graeme Rogerson at the 2006 Magic Millions National Yearling Sale, finished too well for Patronyme in an all Magic Millions finish.
Rogerson was impressed with the performance of the well bred mare to sprint home over the top of a classy field of mares.
"The ground suited her and it was a very good ride by Peter (Wells)," Rogerson commented. "The two get along very well together."
"She's a very good mare and she has got a great turn of foot - it was great to see her win another big race."
Connections are now contemplating a trip south to Melbourne for a race over the coming weeks of the Spring Carnival.
Illuminates' record reads out at eight wins and 13 minor placings from 43 starts and earnings of over $630,000. She has won or placed in no fewer than seven stakes races.
The mare is one of two winners from the well bred and good producing Danzero mare Dazzle Light.
Unraced, Dazzle Light is a daughter of the Group One Queensland Oaks winner Travel Light - making her a half sister to former grand Sydney galloper Stoway.
Dazzle Light is also a half sister to London Lights, the city winning dam of group one winner Only a Lady (dam of Redwood Falls) and stakes winner Lisson Grove.
Further back it is the family of stakes winners including Our Tristalight, Tudor Light, Tudor Sky, Roman Candle, Dance On Air and Dream Machine.
Dazzle Light's latest yearling, a cracking bay colt by red hot sire More Than Ready, is one of the quality lots of a star studded draft from Baramul Stud heading to January's Magic Millions Yearling Sale at the Gold Coast.
